o truly enjoy the electrifying energy of
Miami, without booking a flight to Florida
of course, one can take a short trip to the
25th floor of dusitD2 Samyan Bangkok, as its
rooftop provides the setting for the vibrant dining
and bar experience that is Mimi’s. The Bangkok
skyline is enough to entice visitors to not only
enjoy the views but also to share a dining space
that exudes fun and entertainment. On our recent
visit, the party vibes were effortlessly delivered,
                                     and we wholeheartedly embraced them.

                                     FIRST IMPRESSIONS

From the logo font, colour scheme, and overall
interior/exterior design choices, there is no
mistaking that Mimi’s possesses nearly every
element of a lit Miami night. I felt that the only
things missing were Miami Heat jerseys, the
aroma of Cuban sandwiches and coffee, and DJ Khaled in the background obnoxiously
shouting, “Another one!” Putting aside my desire to sport an all-white linen suit and
live out my Miami Vice (1984-1990) fantasies, Mimi’s provided the most welcoming
and joyous energy, as you would expect from a venue channelling the essence of
        possibly America’s most vivacious city.

As expected, there are details of Art Deco, intimate lighting, colours, and sounds
befitting the summery, tropical climate ambience. Mimi’s live DJ, playing all the chart-
toppers, only enhanced the experience; given the atmosphere, it was difficult not to
move and sway with the beats. My colleague and I couldn’t
help but bust a move or two, with respect for the entire team
at Mimi’s. Their warm and jubilant approach to welcoming us,
as well as the impeccable service they provided while keeping
up the fun factor, should be acknowledged and appreciated.

        FOOD AND DRINKS

Now to the nitty-gritty. We were hoping the food and drinks
lived up to the overall experience. We were relieved to find that
Mimi’s has both style and substance; the décor impressed and
the menu appropriately followed suit. It should be noted that
the menu is a no-fuss list of selections comprised of familiar
(both veg and non-veg) items that hit home for people who
have experienced the American melting pot. However, it does
come down to the preparation, presentation, and of course,
        the taste.

We started off with something light and appetising, starters that eased us into the MASALA RECOMMENDS
meatier dishes of the evening. On one end, we had the Classic caesar salad (THB 220),
drizzled with croutons, bacon bites, and parmesan cheese. On the other, Truffle fries The Fowl chicken wings spicy home recipe (THB
(THB 200) with parsley, truffle essence, and yet again, more parmesan; tastier with 220) and its arsenal of sauces was the clear
every bite. For a little more heft, Mimi’s served us a plate of Carne asada tacos (THB winner. Look forward to the Tennessee ranch,
350), grilled steak with crispy corn taco shells that reminded us of backyard BBQs of honey mustard, Miami cocktail, lemon dill aioli,
old. Taking it a step higher, the Fish burger (THB 450), filled with a batter-fried sea blue cheese, Texas Rangers, Buffalo BBQ, and
bass fillet with tartar sauce and the usual condiments with a side of fries, brought a more, just to dip your heart out! Sure, you’ll have
curveball to our pallets. In a good way, of course. And if we weren’t spoiled with flavours to get your fingers dirty on this one, but it’ll be
of classic Americana already, we also took a bite out of their juicy Cheeseburger with worth it with its delicious combo of flavours.
bacon (THB 480) – presented with wagyu beef patties with tomato, pickles, crispy
bacon, and cheddar cheese, with a side of fries.

After being generously filled, we were treated to their cocktails and mocktails, which MIMI’S VIEW VIDEO
coincidently stole the show. First, the mocktails took the stage with the Bikini beach
(THB 240), a glass filled with orange juice, cranberry juice, peach syrup, and lime juice; 25th floor of dusitD2 Samyan Bangkok
and the White sand (THB 240), a mix of coconut juice, pineapple juice, lime juice, and 333 Si Phraya Road, Si Phraya, Bang Rak
coconut syrup. Both drinks were incredibly refreshing, and ideal for high-temperature Bangkok, Thailand 10500
party environments. Mimi’s cocktails, however, took things up a notch. Generous and
edgy with the alcohol, the new stars on the menu (all THB 320++) had us in a right Open daily from 5pm to 12am
tizzy. These comprised of Gone – Tennessee whiskey, Angostura bitters, syrup, and Tel: 02 211 3333
steak & butter fat-wash; Cruel Summer – blended scotch, Aperol, sweet vermouth, Instagram & Facebook: @mimisbangkok
aromatic bitter, and soda, an appropriately-named and bittersweet ending to our www.dusit.com/dusitd2-
visit; and the Last Kiss – gin, strawberry cream liqueur, and vanilla cordial. The latter samyanbangkok/th/dining/mimis/
was especially difficult to put down, with its sweet allure and seductive level of gin.
