THE LOOK
Gaurav
Gupta
aurav Gupta, a man well-known for his love for
draping, structures and fluidity is internationally
Grecognised for his royally layered and fantasy-like
gowns and saris. Drawing inspiration from nature, abstract
shapes, an alternative mythology and a future primitive
world, the brand holds a solid signature. With the use of
lines, the flow of fabrics and the anatomical makeup of the
human body, Gaurav is able to sculpt his garments to appear
long, shapely and musical. The designer’s pre-draped,
pre-pleated and pre-stitched saris carry gothic and art
nouveau undertones. Three-dimensional metal and leather
embroideries are also popular among modern brides aiming
to make a statement. The embellished outfit is known as the designer’s
Ecru celeste lehenga.
For this season, Gaurav’s collection ‘Moondust’ picks up
inspiration from the past themes of fairytales, princesses and
magical castles, while using futuristic European techniques
and materials. The collection is character-driven and
features elements of magical realism through meticulously
handcrafted embroideries and silhouettes. Chiffons, crepes,
dupions, tulles, nets and lace are signature fabrics used in his
collection with bejeweled stags, birds, sculptural waves and
mother-of-pearl embroidery.
