Editor’s Note
This issue marks Masala’s eight year anniversary where we continue to
bring you the most up-to-date and inspirational tales of our ambitious and
innovative society members. As we begin a new year, we aspire to scale
new heights with engaging stories that represent the voice of our
Thai-Indian community. Keep an eye out for our social media endeavours as
well, including Masala Mail to stay on trend with your local members. As we
also recently celebrated India’s Independence Day, this historic occasion
reminded us of our nation’s pride and pioneering spirit that we hope to carry
forward in the future issues to come.
Our cover story is an example of such spirit – a man who had the courage
and will to venture into a di erent eld so late in his career. After 12 years of
working a corporate IT job, Founder and Group CEO of Modus, Gaurav Kejriwal
reinvented himself as an entrepreneur in the food industry. Tune in to our
exclusive feature, ‘Food for Thought’ on page 44, to read more about the
owner of Saras and his challenging career change.
Meanwhile, many careers are carried out at home, especially for journey
practitioner Sonal Karamchandani, who redesigned her abode based on her
personal beliefs as a healer. She reveals her creative home decor secrets in
our Homes article, ‘The Makings of a Personal Touch’ (page 70).
Don’t forget to ip through our other sections as well, particularly the dining
feature, where we bring you a variety of reviews to satisfy your cravings.
Whether you desire a Spanish esta (page 66) or restone-grilled meats
(page 68), we’ve got the options for your next meal out. We’ve even
published easy-to-follow, seafood-based recipes by Ravinder Sachdev
(page 75), more fondly known as Jenny. Her dishes are not only simple,
but are also created with subtle sophistication.
No matter your pursuits, whether as a businessman, interior designer or
chef, we hope you continue to chase your dreams, and inspire others to
follow theirs as well. Happy reading! Let us know your thoughts on this
