he discusses his experiences of working in

                                                       Indian television.

With a degree in hotel management and work experience in hospitality,
Nandish Singh was as far away as he could be from the world of ashes
and fashion. But the boy from Rajasthan is now working in Mumbai, India’s
                                                       glamorous capital.

The opportunity to enter this industry materialised when he was asked to walk
the ramp for fashion designer Arjun Khanna. The exciting and thrilling stories
he had heard from his model friends were happening to him, and he enjoyed
the profession so much that he couldn’t be stopped. One ramp walk led to
more ramp walks, which led to print shoots for various brands. In no time, he
was auditioning for TV roles. The ambitious Nandish started getting call backs,
and in 2007, he played his rst onscreen character, Saket for the TV show
Kayamath on Star Plus. He continued to play minor roles before landing his big
break. In 2009, Nandish was a part of India’s most popular show of the time,
Uttaran. And since then, Nandish has become a household name, acting in
various TV soaps, reality shows and short lms. We sit down to chat about his
rise to fame, work-life balance and future aspirations.

What has been your most favourite role?
I would say in terms of the character, my best role was for a crime thriller show
on Sony TV called Encounter (2014). It has been one of my most challenging
and loved roles. I played an undercover agent who tries to catch the bad guys of
                                                       the underworld.

What is your most memorable moment of working in the TV industry?
When I was about 11 years old, I had gone for my rst lm shooting in
Rajasthan. The shoot was for Shekhar Kapur’s lm Bandit Queen (1994)
starring Seema Biswas. I was her fan. I remember asking for her autograph and
