Modern Women

Must Answer Today

Many Thai-Indian families
followed a textbook lifestyle, even
up to a few years ago. Now if
you eavesdrop on any Thai-Indian
group of friends — no matter
how old — one will hear that our
economic and social climate has
changed considerably and so has
our behavior as a community,
followed by gasps and a slight
worry about the future.

As a result of these lifestyle
changes, modern women must
tackle certain questions that were
not relevant during their mother’s
time. Such questions were dealt
with lightly and taken for granted,
for there was only one way
forward. But this is no longer
the case. Guidance counsellor
Amornrat Sachdev gets candid
with a handful of modern Thai-
Indian women who voice their
answers to a few of these hard-
hitting questions.
