t gives me immense pleasure to extend my warmest congratulations to Masala
on the publication of their seventh edition of Indian Weddings in Thailand. We
Iappreciate the dedicated initiative and support Masala has demonstrated towards
promoting Thailand as an ideal destination for Indian weddings.

With the launch of Amazing Thailand’s ‘Open to the New Shades’ marketing concept
in India, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has accelerated its effort in helping
Indian visitors open their hearts and minds to new experiences and places in the Land
of Smiles. As Indian wedding tourism continues to grow, and more and more airlines
are getting involved in this lucrative sector, Indian travellers do want to look beyond
the obvious choices of Bangkok and Pattaya to explore other premier destinations,
such as Chiang Rai, Rayong and Hua Hin, for their weddings. It also gives every visitor
a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the serene and beautiful side of Thailand, while the
less explored destinations receive the attention they certainly deserve.

The TAT offices in Mumbai and New Delhi continue to work hand in hand with

partners and tour operators to help promote Thailand amongst various groups of
Indian travellers, with weddings and honeymooners making up a large part of it.
The unrelenting efforts of the Thai Indian Wedding Association (TIWA) will strengthen
Thailand’s position as the preferred country for destination weddings amongst
Indians, not only from India and the neighbouring countries, but also extending as far
as Europe, South Africa and Canada.

The large and affluent Indian community in Thailand has nurtured and maintained
strong ties with India, and TAT recognises Masala as an authentic voice for this
community. As Masala continues to achieve exciting milestones and reach new
heights, we wish the entire team huge success.

             Sincerely,
             WALAILAK NOYPAYAK PH D
             Executive Director,
ASEAN, South Asia and South Pacific Region
