THAI INDIAN WEDDING ASSOCIATION
“ The potential for Thailand’s
continued growth as an
Indian wedding destination
is plentiful, with its in uence
affecting other sectors, such
as tourism and MICE. “
An average Indian wedding entails two to four days of
celebrations with a budget anywhere between B3 million to
B50 million, and a guestlist of a few hundred people up to
more than a thousand. There have already been occasions
where Thailand has been host to Indian weddings with
budgets exceeding B100 million and parties showcasing
internationally-celebrated talent. As a result of the scale
and complexity of each wedding, the association also
assists those in the Indian wedding industry by producing
explicit guidelines concerning codes of conduct about
issues, such as hygiene. We also provide training in the
form of educational workshops, MasterClasses and expert
consultancy to guarantee that those working in the sector
have a comprehensive grasp of the magnitude and nature of
Indian nuptials.
As Ram explains, “This is particularly beneficial for managers
of properties who wish to enter this potentially lucrative
market, as Indian weddings are a melting pot of tradition,
culture, religion and grandeur, so an in-depth understanding
of the ins-and-outs of the celebrations is required to
achieve success.” In addition to networking events and
practical workshops, an abundance of information is also
made accessible to members through the association’s
comprehensive website, availability of e-newsletters, and
various social media channels.
The potential for Thailand’s continued growth as an Indian
wedding destination is plentiful, with its influence affecting
other sectors, such as tourism and MICE (Meetings,
Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions). These destination
weddings do not only bring tens of thousands of affluent
guests to Thailand, but their festive experiences here also
entice these same individuals to make repeat visits to
Thailand as independent or business travellers. TIWA, with
the support of TAT, recognises that Thailand offers all the
pieces of a complete puzzle in the pursuit of becoming a
world-class destination, and as a result, the association
remains optimistic about the future.
