PRESIDENT OF TIWA
PRESIDENT OF TIW A
t is my privilege to report that 2018 has been the best year yet
for Indian weddings in Thailand, both in numbers and in revenue
Igenerated. TIWA’s efforts in promoting, protecting, and preserving the
healthy Indian wedding industry in Thailand are encouraged by the Tourism
Authority of Thailand (TAT) as well as Masala, who have supported us from
our conception and to whom we are extremely grateful.
As the voice of the Indian wedding industry in Thailand, TIWA aims to offer
a platform for its members to collaborate on all aspects of the industry,
which has flourished over the past year, as seen by substantial growth in
Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya and especially Hua Hin. Thailand continues to be
renowned worldwide as a much-sought-after wedding destination due to
its natural beauty, one-of-a-kind experiences and culture, and exemplary
cuisine. In past years, TIWA has nurtured further growth in the industry
through collaboration with stakeholders, addressing concerns, and helping
to resolve issues. However, more venues that are focused on meeting
certain standards of quality, capacity, and hygiene are needed, and with the
growth of the fraternity, stakeholders need to foster closer relationships
with each other so they can better work hand-in-hand.
In the next year, TIWA will continue to be a reliable source of information
to venues, suppliers, wedding planners, and clients, driven in part by its
collaboration with Masala. I would like to take this opportunity to thank
Masala’s invaluable contributions to our efforts, especially in their recently-
launched platform MasalaWeds, a database of all vendors and venues for
both wedding planners and their clients, which will give keystroke access
to a wealth of information. Additionally, TIWA is expected to not only
participate but also host international conventions of wedding planners in
Thailand, including a MasterClass training session.
I would like to personally assure our esteemed members that the
future of the industry looks bright and that we are prepared for
growth, as Thailand is ready and eager for the business of Indian
weddings. However, I would caution us not to be complacent, but to
together continue to maintain Thailand as a value-added, world-class
destination for visitors from all over the globe. I am confident that with
our combined efforts, we will strive to make Thailand the world’s most
sought-after wedding destination.
Sincerely,
RAM S A CHDEV
President
