Vanita Sachdev Ratnaphat is a woman on-the-go. She is a famed
makeup artist under her eponymous brand Visage by Vanita,
a full-time English instructor at Berlitz Corporation and an
event planner at The Soirée. She has also recently started two
new online ventures called Little Treasures and Trinkets and
Treasures. With so many roles to assume, how can she possibly
fi nd time for the fashion scene? Curvy, confi dent and chic, this
Vanita's career-oriented lady has a knack for mixing and matching outfi ts
to create new and exciting ensembles. For her, it’s not about
fi nding time, but about following her instincts. “Fashion should be

fun,” she says with a smile. “It should be all about you. You should
never be afraid to express yourself.”

Vanita dresses according to her mood, desires and personality.
She isn’t one to wear what is on the catalogue, but rather she
pushes boundaries and creates her own trends. “I don’t fi t the
norm,” she boldly says. “I don’t have the ideal 36-24-36 body
type. I can’t do normal. I wear what fl atters me and what looks
good on my fi gure.” Her fashion philosophy defi nitely works for
her, as you’ll always see her meticulously put together. Every look
embodies her free-spirited attitude, and at parties, you’ll never
see her without her six-inch Jessica Simpson heels. Makeup is
also an important and favourite part of her wardrobe. The 38-year-
old artist loves to complement her casual appearance with

fl awless makeup. She can never be without lipstick and mascara
— two of her essentials.
As for society’s obsession with being skinny, she tells us that she
no longer feels pressured to look a certain way. “I was in a dark
place earlier because I didn’t like the way I looked,” she sincerely
shares. “I was bigger before. I felt like I had to fi t in by losing weight
and dressing a certain way. But then I realised that I have only one
life and I am going to live it the way I want to. So I freely express
myself with what I wear and how I feel. Many people question my
judgment but I dress to my taste.” Vanita isn’t afraid to embrace
her unique sense of style. It’s all about confi dence for this
vivacious It Girl. “Style has to be eff ortless. You have to own it!”
