Coconut Goodness
Coconut ice cream is one of Thailand’s much-loved sweet treats.
And the fact that this Thai dessert is now available in a cute, feel-
good standalone café in Thonglor makes it even better. All Coco is
one of Bangkok’s much-devoured coconut ice cream brands and
the brainchild of parent company K Fresh, which sells 20 million
coconuts per year to over 30 countries in the world. Using only the
aromatic Nam Hom Coconut, their newly opened café serves every
coconut-related dessert, shakes, waffles, toasts, sandwiches as
well as coco affogato. What’s more? The café also sells coconut-
made skincare products. For more information, visit

Cruising over
Chao Phraya
Cruise along the magnificent Chao Phraya River aboard the
recently launched 50-seater Arena River Cruise (ARC) and take
in the blissful sights of the beautifully lit up riverside venues and
temples. Relish the variety of mouth-watering Indian and Thai
food served buffet-style, as you dine, drink and dance to the live
tunes of the cruise’s contemporary Indian singer. The cruise vessel
is a refurbished rice barge that has an antique, yet royal, Thai
ambience, perfect for an intimate family gathering or a romantic
date. It embarks from the Asiatique pier daily at 9pm for a three-
hour trip.
From Paris to Bangkok
Over the past decade, Jittini Wangsin, also known as Khun Oye,
has been spreading the Thai food gospel to Paris, where she has
wowed gourmets with her thrilling approach to traditional dishes.
Now she is bringing it all back home with her debut venture in the
nation at the newly opened Madame Shawn restaurant in the heart
of Bangkok on Sukhumvit 49. Jittini’s carefully crafted menu made
from fresh and fine ingredients includes a mix of Thai favourites
with European influences at play. Housed inside a Thai-style city
house, take in views of a beautiful garden and chic décor as you
satisfy your palate with dishes such as Pla muk pad pong curry
(stir fried squid in yellow curry), Tom saab kra dook moo (hot and
spicy pork rib soup with Thai herbs) and Khao niew mamuang
(mango with sticky rice). An extensive wine selection draws
heavily on French vintages, while the drink list features creative
cocktails and a wide range of premium international spirits. The
restaurant is open daily for lunch, from 11am to 3pm and dinner,
from 6:30pm to 10:30pm. www.mmeshawn.com
