Simran Ratta is a full-time homemaker and part-time tutor, who has gracefully
traversed through her fashionable journey from being an Oman Air flight attendant
to teaching kids the beauty of language and communication. Born in the US, and
now residing in Thailand, the multilingual Simran isn’t just a lover of languages, she
brought her and her husband’s passion for food to fruition in the form of Bubsburger.
“I love feeding people around me, and I love eating even more!” exclaims Simran.
“That’s basically how Bubsburger came about.” This venture was her pandemic
baby, deep in lockdown and countless hours of cooking at home. She continues,
“My husband and I were making burgers now and then. If anyone knows Karan,
they know he’s a king of food – that’s probably 75 percent why we got married!
[Laughs] I realised this could be something people would enjoy at home – a healthy,
homemade, scrumptious burger, spanning chicken, kra pao, vegetarian, and vegan
flavours, and more. Before we knew it, we were getting 80 to 100 orders a day. When
things started getting better, we started going out to events and bam! It was one after
another for the year.”
This exuberance reflects her global experience and cultural influences as well: “Even
though I consider myself a global citizen, I feel 101 percent Indian at heart. Maybe
three-quarters Indian and a quarter Omani; I miss Muscat.” Simran makes it a point
to have her finger in several pies, and to invest her energy in things that help her
grow, all while looking stylish. “I am always waiting for opportunities to get dressed
up, go out, and have a good time,” she reveals. “I am a big believer in ‘dressing to
impress’ yourself. Wear what makes you happy, confident, comfortable.” We take a
few steps back to tap into her fashionable past.
