A VIR TUAL DIRECTION
E- INVITES
A unique wedding invitation sets the tone for your special
day, offering guests a tantalising peek at what to look
forward to. The idea of sending out online invites instead
of hand-scripted paper might have traditionalists clutching
their pearls, but when it comes to finding ways to minimise
costs on this momentous (and expensive) occasion,
switching up your invitation strategy might be just the
right way to save. Here are three online invitation vendors
that have Masala’s stamp of approval.
Paperless Post
Price: Many designs are free, but premium options start at US$6 to send out
20 invites.
Like the name suggests, this well-known brand lets you choose between
paper and paperless options. The website offers numerous online invitation
formats that are designer-made and simply stunning. To begin creating
them, each design on the site will take you to a customisation page, where
you can edit the colour scheme and text, as well as the pattern of the digital
invitation envelope. You can also choose to reveal the guest list, as well as
add a comment wall and gift registry link.
Evite
Price: US$24.99 for invites for up to 750 guests
If you’re looking for something simple, Evite’s online wedding invitations
might be the way to go. While the site doesn't have an extensive amount
of designs to choose from, it does offer a nice stylistic range from formal
to graphic-forward, and even gives Photoshop-savvy users the option to
upload their own design. For an extra-personal touch, you can also select
the invite’s envelope, liner and stamp colour. And lastly, your recipients
can indicate if they would like to bring a plus-one or more, including their
kids. Pretty neat!
Wedivite
Price: Free
With Wedivite, couples can manage not only their guest list, but also
their seating chart, digital guestbook and even DJ requests from one
convenient platform. Using this vendor, guests can be invited by email,
Facebook, Google+ or a unique URL. The invitation is set up similarly to
a wedding website, and allows guests to add the wedding date to their
Google Calendar and save the venue on their Google Maps ahead of time.
What’s more, your commitment-phobic guests can also choose to add (or
subtract) their plus-ones after they submit their RSVP.
