Anti-In ammatory Diets and Turmeric
Health experts are now outlining the importance of anti-
in ammatory foods. Low-in ammatory diets ensure that
4 we do not in ame our guts, while providing steady energy
and nutrients through vitamins, minerals, dietary bre
and protective phytonutrients. Overall, this diet means
that we consume less re ned, processed foods and more
wholesome and fresh meals.

Turmeric Latte or Golden Milk
The prevalence of turmeric drinks support two key trends — anti-
in ammatory foods and co ee alternatives. We are starting to discover
the need for consuming anti-in ammatory foods after we exercise to
reduce injuries and soreness. At the same time, we are also learning of
the harmful e ects ca eine has on our adrenal gland. Turmeric is the
perfect substitute to feel and live well.
Make your own Golden Milk, or Haldi Doodh as our grandmothers
may have called it!
Ingredients:
• 2 cups of unsweetened almond milk
• 1 tsp of turmeric
• 1 tsp of any sweetener, such as agave, maple syrup
or coconut syrup
• 1/2 tsp of cinnamon
• 2 to 3 pods of slightly grounded cardamom
• A small pinch of ground or fresh ginger
• A small pinch of ground pepper
Method:
1. Heat almond on the stove using low heat
2. Add turmeric, cinnamon, cardamom, sweetener and pepper
3. Stir frequently for about three minutes until the milk is warm,
not boiling
4. Remove milk from heat and strain
5. Optional: use a milk frother to froth the milk for a few seconds
