Raabta saw Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon come
together for the first time, causing much excitement before
the film’s release. The film is a modern-day love story
that suddenly escalates with a twist of past-life revenge.
Unfortunately, the past life saga has been done one too many
times before and this film added nothing new to it.

Half Girlfriend
Starring: Arjun Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor

Director Mohit Suri developed Chetan Bhagat’s book Half Girlfriend into a movie of
the same name. Typically, we expected exceptional love stories from the director, like in
Aashiqui 2 (2013) and Ek Villain (2014). But the problem here is the book’s story itself, as
it is not one of the author’s best works. More than anything, it is an exasperating read.
The book and the film both lacked an exciting plot to keep the viewer convinced to
watch on.

Jab Harry Met Sejal
Starring: Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma

As charming and charismatic as Shah Rukh Khan is, romantic films are just not his forte
anymore. No amount of Botox and singing can replace the fact that he is too old to be
romancing with actresses half his age. Putting that aside, the film lacks a refreshing
angle to the story of how the girl, yet again, realises that her soulmate isn’t the person
she is already with.

Tubelight
Starring: Salman Khan, Sohail Khan, Zhu Zhu
Critics Rating:
Box Office Collection: Rs 223.24 crores
Tubelight is based on the Hollywood war-drama film Little Boy (2015). This American
film made a loss at the box office and received negative reviews, but director Kabir
Khan thought it would be a good idea to adapt this film for 51-year-old actor Salman
Khan. The story may be relevant in today’s tense times, but the film seems more like a
lesson on patriotism and Gandhian values.
