Best Android wear smartwatch: LG Watch Sport
Probably the biggest surprise of the year so far
is the LG Watch Sport, — the best full featured Pros
tness tracker, beautifully packaged with • Calls and use of data without
Google’s latest Android Wear 2.0. While other your phone
smartwatches can do ‘ tness tracking’ that • Excellent tness tracking
just amounts to tracking steps and calories • Appealing design, despite big size
burned, this watch runs the revamped Google
Fit, and can track your all-important strength Cons
training too! • Bulky
• Mediocre battery life
• Standalone app still being developed
The LG Watch Sport is also one of the few
smartwatches that doesn’t constantly need to be
connected to your phone to get the most out of
it. The built in LTE connection means you can pop
a SIM card into the back of the watch, make and
receive calls and use data without your phone
nearby. Perfect for those runs at the park!
Design-wise, the LG Watch Sport is bulky, and
for those looking for a sleeker look, the LG Watch
Style is recommended, but you’d be losing
out a lot on the great features the Watch Sport
provides. And while new apps are still being
announced for Google’s refreshed Android wear
2.0, the LG Watch Sport is a proper step up for
Android wear and smartwatches in general.

Best smartwatch for Samsung users: Samsung Gear S3
Samsung has been unexpectedly open-minded
with their latest iteration of the Gear S series, Pros
with its new compatibility with iOS. However, • Beautiful and intuitive interface
to take full advantage of what the Gear S3 • Feature-packed tness tracking
o ers, I’d recommend this to mainly Samsung • Intuitive rotating bezel
smartphone users. • Three-day battery life
Strong individual style, the ingenious rotating Cons
bezel for navigation and great battery life make • Bulky
this one of the best selections out there today. • Proprietary software means less
And while Samsung’s proprietary software, Tizen, available apps
means that app selection will be behind the Apple • No water resistance
Watch and Android Wear 2.0, Samsung more than
makes up for it with newly developed platforms
like S Health, MyFitnessPal and Endomondo.
Overall, Samsung has foregone the sleekness of
their previous iterations of the Gear S series in
favour of a more feature-packed experience. And
I, for one, welcome this change.
