Tweet Me, I Dare You

Every tweet and retweet by a Bollywood celebrity on Twitter becomes a

headline the next day. Imagine the newspapers when two celebrities take to the
social media platform to settle their differences. Krishna Mawani takes a look at
some of the bloodiest Twitter wars that have blown up in headlines this year.

In Bollywood, friendships can be made on Twitter and friendships can be destroyed. Many of our
favourite celebrities have found themselves caught in an ugly Twitter battle with another fraternity
member. You can call it a “momentary lapse in judgment” like Sonam Kapoor did after a controversial
spat with Shobhaa De, or you can call it a perfectly tting response, but these raging feuds have
created bad blood in the industry. Some have worn their scarlet letters with heads held high, while
some have deleted Twitter from their lives. We take a look at some of the recent Twitter wars that have
created havoc in the lives of celebrities, their fans and the media.

Harshvardhan Kapoor and Filmfare

Sonam Kapoor is known for her candid and controversial
statements, and her brother Harshvardhan Kapoor is now
in on the action too. In an interview with an Indian daily, he spoke
about how he won every Best Debut Actor Award, except for the Filmfare award,
which was won by Diljit Dosanjh. He expressed his opinion that the debutant
award should be reserved for people who are new to lms, and not new to the Hindi
lm industry. “Otherwise, it is like saying I have done 100 English lms and now I
am doing a Hindi lm so I am a debutant.” He received backlash for his comments
from many in the Twitter community, including the magazine’s executive editor,
Anuraddha Choudhary, who said: “The sense of self entitlement some of these
newcomer actors have is beyond imagination. If only they were half as talented.”
To this, the young actor hurled a series of tweets at her. Despite his snobbish
attitude, Harsh did manage to shut everyone up with his wise tweets.
