Spacious living room
Returning to the front door and greeting us on
the right is a large and round, dull-gold Buddha
artefact Sonal found during one of her many
excursions to Chatuchak Weekend Market.
Accompanying it is a gift from a friend — an
intricate candle stick. On the left is where
family photographs are kept atop a gleaming
black cabinet. With latest photos from her son’s
graduation, the area is mainly for displaying
commemorative occasions. Meanwhile, above
this cabinet is a gift from her brother — a
housewarming Buddha artefact she altered
to her liking by adding silver to the once very
gold and bulging piece. “I took out the gold
paint myself to add silver, so that the tone Prized Buddha collectibles Master bathroom
would match the colour scheme of the rest of
the house.” Mixing different pieces and ideas
together to add her own personal touch is
Sonal’s favourite way of decorating the house.
Her interior designer liked her ideas, and even
passed some onto her other clients.
Most of the residence is white-based
complemented by exotic colours of red and
purple. “I change the look every couple of
months,” she explains. “I don’t like anything too
monotonous, so I often change the pillow covers.
Sometimes the house is very Indian based,
while other times the interiors seem more Thai.”
What stays constant is her personal Swarovski
crystal collection, placed safely and beautifully
in a transparent cabinet behind the white leather
couch in the living room.
